Moments of Beauty

Howdy!

Again, I start a blog. But, this time, rather than a self-important blog full of my deepest thoughts, I have decided to blog about life in our neck of the woods. Life with LRP and Adam. Life in a town I grew up in, in a valley of blue mountains, in a place where I have so many friends that I run into someone I know almost every time I go out.

Life here is good. I am happier than I have ever been before. I am learning to be a mostly full-time mom. And I am trying to find a moment of beauty every day.

This idea began after I went to the top of Roan Mountain a few days ago with LRP, my sister and brother, and my (other) brother's girlfriend. We drove up nail-bitingly curvy road to the top of the mountain and hiked up to the balds. These stunning natural grasslands are unique to this part of the Appalachian mountains. LRP loved being up there. (As you can see).

In the days following this trip, I have looked for and found many, many moments of beauty every day. Sometimes I have to seek them out, like the trip Adam, LRP, and I took to Watagua Lake the day after our Roan Mountain trip. (Below!)

Other days, I am surprised by these moments- like this morning when I took the dog out for a morning bathroom break and I noticed a leaf gleaming silver in the morning sun. Or when LRP smiles at me, or takes a step, or hands me part of his half-chewed blueberry because he just knows I'll love a little bite.
Everywhere I look now, I find beauty. My good friend Kim D. talks in her blog about how blessed she is in so may ways. I feel this too.
So, thanks for reading. Come back for more. Like so many other things I've learned from Kim D. about motherhood, I've decided to copy her blog and use this space as a photo album, journal, and way to keep in touch. More soon...it's time for a refill on wine....
(Did I mention that as I write this, LRP is having his first EVER trying to fall asleep on his own in his crib? (After me nursing him to sleep 4 times and him waking up each time I lay him down!)
Sigh. Not going down as today's moment of beauty. But, oh, it will be beautiful for all of us when he has a good night's sleep finally.)
